"Head of a tribal woman" is a meditative piece by Tapos Das, carrying the peace and tranquillity of a life lived in rural India, close to nature. Tapos Das is an artist who began his career from rural Bengal, displaying his works at village fairs. Today he is a gallery artist, much sought-after for his wall mounted works and strand-alone sculptures made of copper sheets, brass objects, wires, found metal and iron.
This is a decorative work which carries the flavour of both his older sheet sculptures and his contemporary new works.
